Born in 1884 in Louisville, Kentucky, Everett Sherrill graduated in the Phillips Academy class of 1904 He kept this scrapbook from 1900 until 1905. There is no evidence from the contents of Sherrill’s scrapbook that he ever went to college, but there is substantial evidence from his neat scrapbook that the time that Sherrill spent at Andover was deeply cherished.

Year by year Sherrill traces the growth of his friends and his school. All pictures are neatly cut out and glued onto the pages of the scrapbook with names tidily written underneath. Documenting student life are significant amounts of ephemera in the scrapbook, ranging from Phillipian articles to programs of school events.

Sherrill’s scrapbook contains multiple Football Extras of the Phillipian, some articles about games against Ivy League colleges opposed to other prep schools in the New England Area. He cut from newspapers the athletic records of many individual players records and stuck them inside of the scrapbook.

Fascinated with Andover, the town and the school, Sherrill includes many pictures of the Shawsheen River, Phillips Academy’s academic buildings and team photos as well as photographs of clubs. He also kept many different mementos from his years on campus: a 1904 Blue Book, secret society (Phi Beta Chi Club House) programs dating back to 1899, the Draper Prizes award pamphlet, the Shakespearian Society oath, and other programs from dance and concerts. Everett was a member of the Glee Club for three years.

Everett became a realtor, residing in Allentown, Pennyslvania in a nursing home called Phoebe-Devitt. He had a total of 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sherrill lived to be 99 years old and quietly passed away in his sleep.
