George D. French, Phillips Academy class of 1905, was from Davenport, Iowa. Very involved in both athletics and the arts, French was a member of the Andover string group, the football and track teams, and the Philomathean Society. His scrapbook contains photographs of his string groups and football teams as well as Borden gym memorabilia including photographs and workout logs.

His interestingly patterned scrapbook is overall in very solid condition. In two sections, French’s scrapbook contains material from his (1903-1905) and his father’s times (1875-1877) at Phillips Academy. Materials inside include athletic game logs from Andover/Exeter, prom and other formal dance logs, Philomathean Society memorabilia, recital programs, church programs, Andover musical programs, lists of students, Philippian clippings, Harvard vs. Yale memorabilia, letters and photographs.
